Hey All! It’s that time of the week again.. and once again i’ve got a treat for ya!
This week’s mix comes from no stranger to the Ghetto Funk scene.. one of the greats you might say!
1/3 of the club known as Hong Kong Ping Pong, the inventor of the disco helmet and one of the quickest rising producers in the party breaks scene, I managed to grab a quick word with Jack Nash aka Morphosis to find out what’s going on with him as we eagerly await the drop of the annual Hong Kong Ping Pong Mixtape. It seems in between producing tracks, Djing festivals, smashing out Beating the Crates on NSB radio, having a job, a life and being a family man, he somehow still found time to put together this cheeky mixtape and have a word with me!

Sammy: You have been playing a lot of gigs this summer! What has been your most enjoyable set?
Morphosis: Oh wow… how to decide, it really has been an incredible summer so far, Masked Ball, Hong Kong Ping Pong Aqua Ding Dong, Sunrise Festival, Beat Herder, Bimble Bandada… but if you’re gonna push me it would have to be rinsing it on the Boombox Stage, sunday afternoon at Booooooooomtown!
Sammy: Gutted I missed that, last year Boomtown with you guys was brilliant. Your set at sunrise was one of the best i’ve seen you guys play.. smashed it! We have all been loving the fact that you are now producing tunes, what are you enjoying most about that?
Morphosis: Well it’s a very steep learning curve, but we’re really very lucky to have so many amazing producers we can count on as friends, they’ve all been so supportive when called up out of the blue when we just… can’t… quite… make it sound right…
Sammy: I bet it’s a buzz to hear your tunes being played out by others too.. there’s no feeling like it! The diversity in your DJ sets is enormous, are there some genres you haven’t tackled in production yet that you are looking forward to getting into?
Morphosis: We’d love to have a stab at everything if we had enough time but I reckon a dabble with some D&B is on the cards.
Sammy: Yes! me too.. co-lab? haha.. anyway last year HKPP toured the alps in winter.. any plans for upcoming tours?
Morphosis: You’d have to speak to Rich at Taking The Piste about that… hint hint! We had so much fun last season, we’d absolutely love to do it again!
Sammy: Brilliant.. and hopefully further afield at some stage, I know the likes of Canada, Oz and New Zealand would treat you guys like gods if you graced their shores. What do we have to look forward to that’s coming out soon from you and HKPP?
Morphosis: Our next release is due out on Scour Records later this week (29th), it’s a crazy glitchy swingy thing we’ve collaborated with Warp9 on and you can hear it in full exclusively on this here podcast… so what you waiting for?
Sammy: Nothing! lets get into it! but lastly, gigs.. now the festival season is over where and when can we find you?
We have a few big gigs in the offing but can’t dish the dirt on them just yet but lets just say be in Bristol sometime around halloween.
Sammy: Thanks mate! keep up the good work and sounds like we have lot’s to look forward to from you and the guys!
