For a long time now there are a few producers I have grown to rely on to keep my sets sounding fresh and funky. Being a DJ who likes to drop up-tempo, funk fuelled bangers, it can be hard to put a playlist on for friends over dinner or at a BBQ.

Funnily enough Mister T has the kind of style that can cater for both!

His tracks are not out of place on the dance floor when it’s packed. Neither do they make people wince when trying to have a conversation over dinner.

I don’t know how he does it, he just does.

He’s one of those beat smiths who keeps adding to a beat. Making it more diverse and full, without sounding over crowded. Smooth enough to make you ask, is that a sample, did he play that? Where’s this guy digging? I’d like his record collection that’s for sure.

For this new long player he’s definitely added a few more tunes that would sit well with your average Ghetto Funk listener. Providing an alternative for the sample Howla and WBBL used on Crazy Pavers. Mister T utilizes more of the original and keeps it chill on the distorted bass on the opener “A True Story.” Both tracks are equally fresh but this one would suit the more traditional funk listener.

He has called upon some dazzling female vocalists this time round. Mostly sitting on the more mellow beats. My two favourites both feature Lucy Lune Gillespie. They are called “Everybody Is Going To Be There” and “Soul Food Fantasy.”

The two tracks that will be getting airtime during the later part of my sets are “Saturday Night Banger” and “Yo!” Both on an up-tempo vibe calling on that classic, wah wah guitar, warm funk bass, added horns and occasional vocal samples to keep the party moving.

To be brutally honest, I can’t flaw this album. If it’s distorted bass and wobbles you’re looking for. This won’t satisfy your hunger. If you’re looking for dope instrumental cuts you’ve come to expect from the Cold Busted label, with added vocalists, carefully selected samples and finely engineered drum loops, your in the right place.
