I managed to grab a few minutes with bass gentry Deekline & Ed Solo to talk about there new album, Deekline’s dance moves and Eddie not getting to see much day light. Check it out below:
What’s the origin of your names and did you have any other names before that ?
E – I used to be “Click and Cycle” along with Dave Stone. The name was taken from the music program Cubase. When I went solo, there was a button called “Ed Solo” on Cubase so it seemed the only obvious choice.
D – I was dj Damager. But the name Deekline was given to me back in 1996 when I used to play Miami Bass & Jungle. This MC one night starting call me it because the girls liked my music and it made them get down. I thought it was a good name and suited my style so went with it.
What genre of music do you consider your work to be ?
D – Breaks, Dub Step, Drum and Bass, Miami Bass
E – Basically we both make a wide selection of bass fuelled music.
Who are your major influences ?
E- First and foremost Danny Dyrd, Scisntist, Price Jammy, The Prodigy & Tom Middleton. But there are loads more from different genres and periods of time in my life. I could list them for hours…
D – I agree, people like Uncle Al, Luke, Acen, Prodigy, Minni Van, Tipper Hype, Demon Boys, Fu Schnickens, Lords of The Underground, Public Enemy, Run DMC, Dre, Young MC the list goes on…
What inspired you to make music ?
D – I started DJ’ing and it was just the next logical progression to want to know how and if I could put tracks together.
E – The fact that I like music and technology.
What made you want to write an album together ?
D – We have done so many tracks together over the years that I think a lot of people think we must have already.
E – People keep saying “there next album”, when this will be our first together.
D – So I guess that was it really, we just decided to take some time out and actually put a full album together. We really excited with how its coming along and aim to be unleashing it early next year.
E – If all things go to plan 
You have teamed up with our own Dancefloor Outlaws to release tracks and set about conquiring our world with you new label Disco Cakes. How did that come about ?
D – I meet Will and later Robin in Newquay a few years back and they seemed to have good idea’s but did not know how to excute them properly or have an avenue to get them out.
E – So we hooked up and showed them how to get the most from there tracks and in turn made them No1 hits on Juno.
D – We really like there style. You’ll be seeing plenty more Disco Cakes / Dancefloor Outlaws releases coming over the next few months. They got some big tracks dropping next year. You have been warned.
How has technology, like Serato, changed the way you perform ?
D – It makes it a lot easier to combine genres, an adapt to different situations when you have Serato.
E – The power of lap top has made it possible to write apon the road.
What future technology or advancements do you hope to see ?
E – Beer Proof lap tops, virtual turntabels and a program that rips sounds from your brain.
D – Teleportation, I don’t like flying..
Your ultimate gig, where would it be, who would share the stage with you ?
D – Bulgaria Underground Station. Just Ed and I with The Ragga Twins on the Mic and 3000 people going nuts all night long.
Where is your favourite place to play in the world ?
E – We both really like Eastern Europe and Canada

What’s one killer production tip you know now that you wished you had discovered years ago?
E – Turn the bass up.
D – Trust your your ears.

Does he think people who use controllers can actually call themselves dj’s, or if he thinks they’re fake mark ass tricks with no talent who just play music in public and who should be pummelled with a manhole cover? E – Depends if you can operate it creativly enhance your set. D – We do prefre the turntable approach
Trevor Mundell asked: if they think breaks are dying out, and whether they see a big comeback in the near future ? D – For sure breaks just went underground it is always there . E – I think 2012 will see a fully cycle.
